Lektratek (Pty) Ltd was founded in 1977 by Gert van der Walt, a toolmaker by profession. Precision mechanical components are the main product of this company, although more than hundreds of different components have been manufactured through the years.
The company has grown into a mammoth machining company with more than a 100 workers, most of them professionally qualified for their jobs. It boast 33 computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines which is a very large quantity, even in international terms. A company with 10 CNC machines is considered a large manufacturer.
Mass production started in 1987 when market demand steered the owner onto this track. Components at Lektratek are machined from different types of materials such as brass, aluminium, copper, composite’s and various other steels. This justified that a fully automatic surface treatment plant is maintained for surface protection for the different alloys (Anodizing to alchroming).
